Who is Birdy Lox

 

Born Letlhohonolo Masinga known as Birdy Lox. A rising star all the way from Lydenburg, which is a small town in the deepest cores of Mpumalanga.

Her love for music started at a very young age & her family plays a huge part in her musical taste.

"My sisters Thabiso, Thato & my mother have such a great influence on me musically. At a very young age all I heard in my ears was beautiful reggae music, heard a lot of jazz music from my late uncle, on really chilled days my family would play the likes of Lebo Mathose, Thandiswa Mazwayi ,Erykah Badu , Floetry and damn … Miss Lauryn Hill !? And the list goes on. I’m truly inspired by these artists I’ve mentioned. The combination of all these genres and themes have shaped my perspective MUSICALLY and it has set for me such a beautiful journey in pursuing my music career and particularly shaped certain principles in my life. I’ve preserved the agonies of this voyage and I’m aware that there’s a lot still yet to come Meanwhile I am grateful for what I have put out. I will stay grateful."

She went to release a bunch of projects independently with a different stage name & has now chosen to work with an independent label to still have the same drive but doing it with a team behind her, while on this new path she has changed her stage name to start afresh on a new music journey.
